Please Help Gene Colan

Via Clifford Meth's blog, comics artist Gene Colan is suffering from liver failure and the comics and blogging communities are uniting to help him out. Cliff's leading the effort to get comics artists and writers such as Neal Adams, Adam-Troy Castro, Peter David, Mark Evanier, Neil Gaiman, Stan Lee, Mike Pascale, and Dave Simmons to donate their work as part of an auction to benefit Gene. Please keep tuning in to Cliff's blog for more details.

If you grew up reading comics in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, you couldn't help but see Gene's work. You may not remember his name, but you probably remember images such as Batman on the cover of Detective Comics #556 (above). Gene worked on many major hero titles for both DC and Marvel: Batman, Captain America, Daredevil, Iron Man, and many others. Perhaps even more memorably, he worked on such cult classics as Tomb of Dracula and Howard the Duck.
I've linked to a bunch of pages on Gene's page. Looking through them, I was amazed at how many covers I remembered enjoying so many years ago. If you were a comics reader, take a look and see how many you remember. If you have the same experience I did, you'll want to help out Gene just to repay some old debts.

Please take the time to check out Cliff's blog and help out a great comics artist, Gene Colan.
