Fixing a Hole

Today’s Philadelphia Inquirer carries a front-page picture and has a multipage story covering the $31 million USD restoration project currently being performed on the PMA. From the cleaning of the colorful elements of the façade to the plugging of the leaky roof, this overhaul has been long overdue. An online slideshow shows spectacular before versus after views. Preservation of the museum itself is the first step in the preservation of the works inside, so the PMA should be applauded for taking this step. It certainly takes some of the sting out of the recently increased admission prices.
